About North State Volleyball Academy
North State Volleyball Academy was started in 2004 by longtime coach and player Pablo Lana. Pablo has been coaching and playing volleyball for over 25 years. Pablo has coached at some of the top clubs and colleges including, CSU Pueblo, Shasta College, St Mary’s College and was the founder of Diablo Valley Volleyball Club
North State Volleyball Academy was formed with a clear vision of the guiding principles under which it would operate. Our mission is to provide a positive sports experience in all of our activities that fosters enjoyment and the development of all athletes. This club is responsible for;
- Providing a healthy and positive environment for participants.
- Teaching and reinforcing the fundamentals of volleyball.
- Encouraging teamwork and sportsmanship, focusing on positive reinforcement as a primary tool in the learning process.
- Offering advanced skills and techniques for those athletes who wish to play at the next level.
- Teaching that opponents and officials are to be respected and appreciated.
- This club believes its participants are best served by providing an environment that will foster a long term love of the game.

North State Volleyball provides competitive teams for all areas of interest (whether it be to simply learn the game, players trying to make their junior high or high school teams, or for athletes interested in playing in college.
Season starts in November and ends from April to June Depending on Team
Cost Ranges from $480 for Local teams to $900 for regional team to $2000 for Showcase travel teams
Local Area Teams - 12U - 14U - 16U - 18U
Local Area Teams typically play in four or five series tournaments per season. Tournaments are typically held on Saturday or Sunday. Teams typically play in the Redding, Anderson, Red Bluff or Chico area.Tournaments typically start at 8:00am and can finish anywhere from 2:00pm, 3:00pm, 4:00pm or 5:00pm depending on the teams finish in bracket play. Most tournaments are structured that teams will play multiple matches in pool or round robin play. Based on those results, teams are seeded into brackets to determine the winners.
All Day Tournaments (8-5 PM)
Regional Area Teams - 12U - 14U - 16U - 18U
Regional Teams typically play in four or five series tournaments per season. Tournaments are typically held on Saturday and/or Sunday and may also include Friday and/or Monday as well. Regional teams typically play in the Sacramento, San Jose, San Mateo, Reno and Oregon areas.Tournaments can start at 8:00am or 3:00pm and can finish anywhere from 2:00pm, 3:00pm, 4:00pm or 5:00pm in the am wave or 8:00pm, 9:00pm 10pm in the pm wave. Most tournaments are structured that teams will play multiple matches in pool or round robin play. Based on those results, teams are seeded into brackets to determine the winners.

National Area 12U, 14U, 16U, 18U Teams
National Team tournaments typically play in four or five series tournaments per season typically held on Saturday and/or Sunday and may also include Friday and/or Monday as well. National teams typically play in the Oregon, Portland Oregon, Boise Idaho, Los Angeles. Florida and the Denver Colorado area tournaments' can start at 8:00am or 3:00pm and can finish anywhere from 2:00pm, 3:00pm, 4:00pm or 5:00pm in the am wave or 8:00pm, 9:00pm 10pm in the pm wave. Most tournaments are structured that teams will play multiple matches in pool or round robin play. Based on those results, teams are seeded into brackets to determine the winners.

Player Team Fee
Player fees pay for, facility/ gym fees, tournament fees, uniform jersey, volleyballs, equipment, coaches stipends, administrative costs . Player travel to and from tournament sites, lodging and meals are not covered in this fee.
Practice Times
Club teams practice on Sundays and upper division teams may have a evening weekday practice as well. Practice times usually start on the Sunday following tryouts. Practice times are dependent on gym time, coaches schedule and the age and division playing in.
Playing on a club team requires commitment; play is competitive, and practice and teamwork are key ingredients to an enjoyable season. Volleyball is a team sport, and everyone who makes a team will be expected to participate in all practices and tournaments. However, we know there may be a good reason for having to miss a practice or tournament due to other prior commitments, illness, etc. Please let us know during tryouts if there are any possible conflicts with the practice/tournament schedule so that we can work out a solution beforehand.

Check the web site regularly before leaving for any scheduled practice or tournaments in case there has been a cancellation, time change, or location change.
